The devotional - 1507 - Be More Diligent

The Devotional – 1506 – Be More Diligent!
Psalm 119:41-48 – Let Your mercies come also to me, O Lord -- Your salvation according to Your Word. So shall I have an answer for him who reproaches me, for I trust in Your word. And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for I have hoped in Your ordinances. So shall I keep Your law continually, forever and ever. And I will walk at liberty, for I seek Your precepts. I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed. And I will delight myself in Your commandments, which I love. My hands also I will lift up to Your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on Your statutes.

Comments and Challenges: WAW
1.      41 – Let Your lovingkindness come to me, YAHWEH, Your salvation according to Your WORD.
2.      42 – So I will have an answer for him who reproaches me, for I trust in Your WORD.
3.      43 – Don’t snatch the WORD out of my mouth, for I put my hope in Your ORDINANCES.
4.      44 – So I will obey Your LAW continually, forever and ever.
5.      45 – I will walk in liberty, for I have sought Your PRECEPTS.
6.      46 – I also speak of Your STATUTES before kings, and will not be disappointed.
7.      47 – I will delight myself in Your COMMANDMENTS because I love them.
8.      48 – I reach out my hands for Your COMMANDMENTS which I love, I will meditate on your STATUTES.

Psalm 119:41 – While it may appear that the writer is seeking Salvation Justification in this verse, he is not. For example we all have personal names that only close personal friends or family use, everyone else will use our proper name. Such is the case here as the word YAHWEH reveals that personal relationship, so what “salvation” is our writer referring to? The first phase of salvation for our psalmist is to understand that his sins are propitiated (to appease or satisfy a judgment) at the Mercy Seat. So our psalmist is looking to be delivered or saved from enemies.

Thus he calls his Savior YAHWEH and not ELOHIM a word for God which unbelieving people call Him. To see this we will take a look at the one time our writer uses the word ELOHIM in Psalm 119:115. In this file his focus is on the double-mindedness of unbelievers, evildoers and those who reject the Joy or STATUTES of the LORD. He momentarily adopts the positional view that unbelievers have and says; “My flesh trembles for fear of YOU, and I am afraid of Your JUDGMENTS.

If you have this positional view of God, if you are afraid of God, than you have not obtained Mercy, your sins have not been atoned for and your flesh trembles at the thought of meeting up with ELOHIM some day in the future. Now I would have to write out the entire book of Leviticus and the entire epistle of Hebrews for us to understand that God does require justice or judgment on SIN and SINNERS. Yet, I need not do that in that if you are biblically unsaved in that when you become biblically SAVED, you will read these wonderful TESTIMONIES yourself.

Unfortunately I will need to stop at this point and pick up our study on Monday morning. I do hope you are interested in these travels through the Holy Bible. For me the searching of Scripture is like looking into a vault of gold, silver and precious stones. In preparation for Monday, please read Hebrews 9:1-26 and Leviticus 16:1-17:11; it is the blood that makes atonement for the SOUL of man and covers the SIN of man. Again in Hebrews 9:5 the writer referring to the Earthy Sanctuary speaks of the Mercy Seat, he does not speak in detail, since the earthly Service of salvation was limited,. Hebrews 9:1-10.
