The devotional - 1508 - The wisdom of God is the Cross

The Devotional – 1503 – The Word of God – Continued

Psalm 119:17-24 – Deal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live and keep Your word. Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law. I am a stranger in the earth; do not hide Your commandments from me. My soul breaks with longing for Your judgments at all times. You rebuke the proud--the cursed, who stray from Your commandments. Remove from me reproach and contempt, for I have kept Your testimonies. Princes also sit and speak against me, but Your servant meditates on Your statutes. Your testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.

Comments and Challenges: GIMEL
17.  Do good to Your servant. I will live and obey Your WORD.
18.  Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things out of Thy LAW.
19.  I am a stranger on the earth, do not hide Your COMMANDMENTS from me.
20.  My soul is consumed with longing for Your ORDINANCES at all times.
21.  You have rebuked the proud who are cursed who wonder from Your COMMANDMENTS.
22.  Take reproach and contempt away from me, for I have kept your STATUTES.
23.  Though princes sit and slander me, Your servant will mediate on Your STATUTES.
24.  Indeed Your STATUTES are my delight and my counselors.

There should be no day that goes by that we do not seek to be in touch with God. His Word is Truth, Of course if you do not have Faith in God through His Son the LORD Jesus Christ all of this may seem like foolishness to you since the message of the Holy Bible is the CROSS. Literally in 1 Corinthians 1:18 the apostle Paul says that the “message” of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. The Greek word for “message” can be translated “WORD.

Nor should there be a day when God’s Law is thought of as something less than; Absolute Truth. The apostle Paul has a lot to say about the Law of God and he makes it clear that we cannot obey the Law and be pleasing enough to God. Our obedience is not perfect enough to enter into heaven. by the keeping of the LAW. However there is another Law that some of us may not know that will provide deliverance from this pending condemnation. Romans 8:1-5. Jesus Christ is the fulfills the Law. Romans 10:4 – For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

His Commandments are real and His Ordinances are to be understood. And His Statutes are to be Enjoyed. So the psalmist uses the final three verses of Psalm 119:17-28 to explain that the joy of trusting in the WORD and ORDINANCE of God is not based on our ability to work out our salvation, but to trust in JESUS who is the AUTHOR of FAITH or as Hebrews 12:2 explains, Jesus is the “finisher” of our faith. Life with God is all about having the JOY of the LORD, daily; that is looking at and understanding HIS STATUTES which far exceed the doctrines and creeds of man’s religion.
