The Devotional - 41

The Devotional

Comment:
Chapter 24 of Job reads like the evening news, except there are none of the pesky commercials. Commercialism is like a religion, one manufacturer proselytes the other of the same kind and all commercials are greedily design to take your time and money from you. If it were possible and it is, the pertinent news of the day could be expressed to the general public within fifteen minutes, or better yet about as much time as it takes to read the 24th chapter of Job. Has the world changed since the writing of Job regarding sin or the sinner? No! The day still exposes the results of the night, does it not? And God will judge, the day, the night and each individual; will He not?

Challenge: Job 24

Job is still disturbed by the comments of Eliphaz so Job reflects on the details of life around him. Humanly we often wonder why God does not Judge as we judge, we see wrong doing and we think. BAM! Judgment time. We may even ask or tell God, “LORD it is time for you to do something” but we see that God seems to do nothing at all and then we remember words like, “vengeance is mine says the LORD, I will repay” Romans 12:19.

The neighbor may move the boundary of another’s property, stolen something or treated others unwisely and you perchance have observed the whole of it. All the way through chapter of Job 24 we see the foolish acts of mankind around us, even as Job sees and we say, “The rebel is at it again, these do not know or care about the ways of God.”

Darkness seem to prevail in every corner of the world, even today we see and live with the results of murder, adultery, robbery and all kinds of evil darkness. The apostle John in his gospel understood the world in the same vein of Job’s book by saying “and the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it” John 1:5. Light by itself overcomes darkness and just as this is true we see that God sent another LIGHT into the world to overcome spiritual darkness.

The deeds of the world are worthy of judgment, while the sin of the world is covered in the death and resurrection of the LORD Jesus Christ. All of the works of mankind listed in the Book of Job and other Books of the Holy Bible. Thus providing an accurate base of account, recorded and eternally documented in the Books written by God. Notice if you will, Revelation 20:11-15.

Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works (deeds), by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works (deeds). Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

God is interested in you and me and what we do, if our deeds/works are evil and our sin is covered in the Blood of Christ, how is that working out for you? You may say in your heart that you are okay with it, but remember this, God has appointed a day to judge the world, and the small and the great will be judged alike in accordance with God’s absolute Justice and Righteousness. Only those whose sin is covered will be with God in heaven.
