The Devotional
Comment:
Some years ago on a Sunday, Louise and I were coming home
from church, we were passing a dairy farm on our right, but I was just driving
along calmly thinking things over and I heard “stop the car, stop the car!”
yep, you can bet that all the calmness of my mind flew out the window like the
bird out of the hand of the fowler. I pulled over and stopped; what’s going on,
what happened Louise?” “that, that cow” she’s giving birth… didn’t you see it?”
“No – no I didn’t I said as calmly as I could.” “Let’s go back and watch” she
said. Of course we did just that and it was a sight to see. The calf had not
fully birthed and we saw the whole event, even mom licking and nudging the
little one to its feet. The times and seasons of life belong to God above and
once in a while He chooses people to observe His Mighty power and loving
Character in Creation. That day He chose us and truly, while this might be
common for the farmer, it was a very nice experience for us two elated dudes to
watch.
Challenge:
Job 39
God loves all that
He has created, in Genesis 2:20-21 God speaks of creating animal life and Moses
who wrote Genesis according to the spoken Words of God to him; (Hebrews 1:1) says
that God personally brought each animal to Adam to see and to name them. This
Adam did and the name of the animals, that is their species (kind) have not
changed nor will they. Adam was very wise and he was not a cave man without
intellect as some might suggest. Adam along with God identified a need in Adam’s
life in that none of the animal kingdom was a suitable helper, well you can
read on in Genesis, but I must move on back to Job, follow along if you’d like.
“Job, do you know
where the mountain goats give birth? Do you watch when the doe bears her young,
they crouch down and bring forth their young and their labor pains cease.” “Job
all of these young thrive and grow strong in the wild, they leave their mom and
never return.” “Job, you have no control over these events of nature. Look at the
wild donkey once loosed from his master’s hand. He has no restrictions and I
have given him the wastelands to be his home and have given him the salt flats
as his habitat. He laughs at the towns people, he is stubborn and does not hear
the drivers command.”
God actually shows
Job and his friends (and if you are reading the Holy Bible you are one of Job’s
friends) that He is personally attached to every living creature. There is so
much evidence of this that one is a fool if they think differently. Nature;
that is God’s Creation knows God. Creation is “thirsty” for the Living God
because Creation is alive and receives from God every care or need to stay
alive. Read Isaiah 55:1-12 and see.
Back in Job and we
will not get to finish this chapter this morning since I am in a rush to leave
the house. We are only down to verse 9 and it is where we will start tomorrow.
No writer can think of the watch care that the LORD God has over all of Creation,
this includes you and me; but it is we the human who have rejected the only One
who gives to us all good things to enjoy. Instead of just receiving these good
things from His Hand. We break His Law and covet and steal and lie and murder
and have idols of worship that do not even qualify as a god. Yet God loves
still. John 3:16 or Romans 5:8.
