The Devotional - I'm livin the dream

The Devotional
Comment: Many people suffer from sleepless nights and at times it effects every one of us. Burdens in life bring unrest and confusion. These are the result of a lack of understanding to deal with the issues of life in ways that bring about good results. The common copout is “Well life never came with an instruction book, and if it did that page or chapter was missing in my book”. In human reasoning it is natural to find an illogical answer. We build our own protective house, we protect our family and assets as best we can in human wisdom and understanding. So, it is the natural and human default mode of living. However, when burdens come (and they do come) in areas where our human intelligence was negligent we worry and emotional bursts of fear and anger that come are the natural result. In extreme cases – violent domestic actions and/or suicide can result and destroy life and family; sleepless nights can carry bad results. I am not discussing physical conditions of sleeplessness, I am discussing issues of the intellectual heart of man, commonly referred to as SIN.

Devotional: Some of the natural intelligence of man say things like “life comes at you fast, so slow down!” or “no fear, just give me another beer!” neither of these quips have an answer worthy to pursue and if this is your way out of life, or if you have a similar quip or two to get through life I will say to you, “So how is it going?” please don’t say “I’m livin the dream!" Since my reply will be, “so you finally got some sleep, I’m sorry I woke you!”

Life is fast and if you fail to have a proper fear of living, your dreams may be sweet when you do sleep. But your life while awake stinks like the sewer and you KNOW it. The following Psalms if your life stinks is only the beginning of correction, but it is a beginning!

Psalm 127:1-5 – Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain (empty) for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for He (God) gives His beloved sleep. Behold (LOOK), children are a heritage from the LORD (they are not yours, they belong to God, He has allowed you to have them for a season of time). The fruit of the womb is a reward (a temporal gift to both husband and wife). Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has a quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, but speak with their enemies in the gate.

Psalm 128:1-4 – Blessed is every one who fears the LORD, who walks in HIS ways. When you eat the labor of your hands, you shall be happy and it shall be well with you. Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your home, your children like olive plants all around your table. Behold (LOOK), thus shall a man be blessed who FEARS the LORD.

If you are not reading the manual of God’s LOVE for you and your family, the result of your life and family is sleeplessness and a household in shambles. If this applies to you, you need to repent “CHANGE YOU MIND” and turn to the LORD for all the remaining days of your life. It just may be that God will grant you to see your children’s children instead of the uncertainty and fear that cause sleeplessness and emotional melt downs that destroy everyone in way.
