The Devotional - 1489 - The Perfect Character of God

The Devotional – 1489 – The Perfect Character of God
Psalm 119:97-104 – Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I may keep Your word. I have not departed from Your judgments, for You Yourself have taught me. How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.

Comments and Challenges:
“Oh how I love Your Law” in these six words we could spend the whole morning, maybe we will! Can we say in our heart those six words? Most likely we can, yet maybe not with the sincerity or intensity of soul that of the Psalm writer expresses. In other words; we may develop boldness to say to God that we love His Law, but it is not until we are “alone in some circumstance” with no one to talk with and no one to comfort. Even with people all around it is in these times that only God’s Character will restore our soul, a time when God will hear clearly our sincere expression of; “Oh how I love Your Law!”

I am amazed at how the psalmist relates to God through his intense thoughts about God’s revealed Character in Creation. We all have issues in life that can subdue us; finances, health, accidents and other things. We are not except from any detail of life just because we are “begotten again” to a living hope through the resurrection of our LORD Jesus Christ from the dead. And as the apostle Peter says in his epistle; “coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious” 1 Peter 2:4-5. Being able through Jesus Christ to lift up the Spiritual Sacrifice of suffering that is acceptable to God.

Should we not be doing this during times of trial maybe even today? Yes we should! Once the revealed Character of God has equipped our soul with refreshing comfort and peace; and while we meditate on Him in this, He who is personal to us in all things by the expression of His Love and Testimonies will restore the joy that the world and the devil seek to destroy. Through every circumstance of life, God is there. I say most every day that; “God will not allow anything to happen to us that is outside of His Will for us”. Therefore the world and devil is always defeated when we come to God for Comfort through His Character.

The apostle Peter and yes all of the apostles, psalmists, prophets; or easier said, everyone who trusts in the gospel of God gives “perfect testimony” that by FAITH in God we understand and have a good testimony recorded in history. From the faith of the Patriarchs to Abraham, or that cloud of witnesses referred to in Hebrews 12. We like these people must run the race of endurance. The Author and Finisher of Faith accomplished this for the “JOY” that was in place forever and so should we.
I hope your day is blessed, what a pity if it is not; it certainly it is not God’s fault. He Loves you and if you fail to appropriate His Love and be blessed it is because you have rejected it by living in self-pity. 1 Peter 5:7 – as a friend says casting all of your care upon the LORD is a wrestling tern. “Body slam your cares on the LORD”
