The Devotional
– 1493 – An Everlasting Foundation
Psalm
119:145-152 – I cry out with my whole heart; hear
me, O Lord! I will keep Your statutes. I cry out to You; save me, and I will
keep Your testimonies. I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for
help; I hope in Your word. My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I
may meditate on Your word. Hear my voice according to Your lovingkindness; O
Lord, revive me according to Your justice. They draw near who follow after
wickedness; they are far from Your law. You are near, O Lord, and all Your
commandments are truth. Concerning Your testimonies, I have known of old that
You have founded them forever.
Comments and Challenges:
I hold and cherish the thought that I
have this one observation of the RIGHTEOUSNESS of GOD in that it is
EVERLASTING. Now I know that we understand this from just a quick read of the
Word of God and we can believe it too; but let me say that God is far more interested
to provide more than just an understanding and trust. His plan is for us to
live in; even to live out, our life in the power of this Righteousness. Psalm
1:6; Psalm 119:40, 123,142,144 and 172; 1 Peter 2:24 and 1 John 3:7.
Yet as the writer of Psalm 119
begins his day of communication with God in verse 145 he sees as we often do
that there is much room for improving our walk with the LORD. When is the last
time you or I cried out with the heart (soul and spirit); “Hear me O LORD! I will
keep your statutes” or “deliver me and I will keep your testimonies”?
If and I hope it is true that you
are a ‘FRIEND’ of God, John 15:13-15, then the enemies of God are on the four corners
of the intersection near your home. The testimonies and statutes of the LORD
are your only deliverance. Therefore Morning Prayer and Worship is ‘mandatory’
even there is an increasing need to awake throughout the night time to meditate
on the Living Word of God. We should long for the lovingkindness (grace) of God
moment by moment. In His provision of grace we see His Justice at work.
The enemy when he draws near (whatever
tool) the enemy uses to get your attention is the ONE thing that stands out,
that when observed and evaluated is; only an obstacle in our path and as we follow
God we observe this wickedness of the enemy of God. Wickedness is a temporal
condition that will be overcome by the everlasting Righteousness of God because
all of His Commandments are TRUTH.
We know this… WHY? Since we proclaim
and know His testimonies and because He has founded His Word, Statutes,
Testimonies, Judgments, Precepts, Law, Commandments and the Fear of the LORD on
the platform of ETERNITY (forever) we can and should be always confident; 2
Corinthians 2:12-17 and we can always be ready to give an answer of this hope
in us – 1 Peter 3:13-17.
