– 1490 – Submitting to the Fear of God
Psalm 119:113-120 – I
hate the double-minded, But I love Your law. You are my hiding place and my
shield; I hope in Your word. Depart from me, you evildoers, for I will keep the
commandments of my God! Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live; and
do not let me be ashamed of my hope. Hold me up, and I shall be safe, and I
shall observe Your statutes continually. You reject all those who stray from
Your statutes, for their deceit is falsehood. You put away all the wicked of
the earth like dross; therefore I love Your testimonies. My flesh trembles for
fear of You, and I am afraid of Your judgments.
Comments and Challenges:
1 Peter
2:13-17 – Therefore submit yourselves to every
ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to
governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and
for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing
good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men -- as free, yet not
using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. Honor all
people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
The writer of Psalm 119 is a
prisoner of war along with his nation Israel having fallen into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar
king of Babylon. A problem I see is that we seldom line up our thinking when
reading the inspired Word of God with the circumstances surrounding the
motivation of God the Holy Spirit to cause a man (a Prophet of God) to write of
the effects of his personal life in crisis. Crisis! Should I write the word
again? CRISIS! Our national product is not prosperous with freedom and liberty…
it is double-minded and INCARCERATED in crisis.
What is national double-mindedness?
The word of God says that it is a “broken heart” and so it is with our personal
lives as well. Another question: “Why does a nation like ours or individuals
within a nation like ours have a divided heart? Notice please; what God the
Holy Spirit motivates the writer to say; in Psalm 119:113b – “but I love Your
Law”, nationally and individually we have fallen from the absolute standard of
God’s Law, to the doubled minded standard of socialism.
There is however a small remnant of
folks who have not caved in to the double-minded standards or banners flying
over our national “control room” these days. These men and women have shielded
their families in the protection of God and in the Wisdom of His Word. The shield
of faith and the prayer of the Saints of God are a vital part of our national heritage
and future. Even if our nation falls, God will uphold His people, we will live
according to His Word.
I hope we as a nation understand the
urgency of need to return to the statutes, precepts, judgments, testimonies,
laws and commandments of God. We also need as a people the proper understanding
to REJECT the nonsense of leadership when that fails to acknowledge God in
their daily duties to govern the rule of day. We need to reject all those who
stray from God’s statutes.
God is willing to put away all the
wicked, like one who puts out the trash; but before we express our faith and
pray; we need to put on the full armor for battle; the armor found in Ephesians
6:10-20. Less we too become like the smoke from the dump ourselves; without the
helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace and
the girdle of truth; we are not protected from becoming a part of our National
DROSS.
