– 1013 – Boasting verses the Wisdom of God
The trail behind the one who
boasts of the things of tomorrow is usually empty of evidence that the boaster
was even there. Therefore it is important to know the outcome of tomorrow
before one can brag on it. In other words a person should not anticipate the
day ahead and speak of it as a day gone by. Luke 12:16-21 is a good parable to
help us understand that God has a plan, a better plan and that we who boast
should boast from our soul in the truth that we know the LORD, Psalm 34:1-3. In
this boasting there is always evidence of blessing.

James
4:13-17
There is little to say in my
mind regarding these five verses of scripture since the context pretty much
speaks clearly that one cannot predict the events of the future. Manufacturing and
producing for profit is not accomplished by anyone who lacks the wisdom of the
tasks ahead and yet the wisdom of the world speaks against the sound wisdom of
God. No one knows what tomorrow will bring or what will happen in one’s life on
that day when it arrives.
Of course this is not to say
that we should throw the towel in the pool and for us to stay out of it. Before
every opportunity in life there should be preparation. So someone may say, “I never
do anything without preparation” yes that is good, but is the LORD a part of
that preparation? Remember that the vapor trail of our existence will not be
visible for long; the evidence of our life will simply be a weather beaten tombstone
somewhere in the temporal trails of life gone by and not in an earthly avenue
of a tomorrow.
However if we humble
ourselves before the mighty will of God and live according to His eternal plan
we shall do this and that and whatever this or that is; there will be eternal
evidence and blessing of being alive in Christ. Let us then stop boasting of
temporal profit, it does not have the eternal quality that God expects of us
and all such boasting of temporal things is EVIL. Therefore to him who boasts
of what he has or what he hopes to have understand that this is not good, but
evil and sin.
