The
Devotional – 1022 – Foot steps in First Corinthians, ongoing
Military
people of all branches of the service when in their dress uniforms and standing
at attention for the inspection of the Commander are very pleasant to behold. I
remember one Commanding Officer who always commented on his crew when they were
dressed out for those occasional inspections. “My heart sings when I see that
all of my troops are hard at work together and looking sharp!” These small
reminders of the past are so rewarding to me in that the help remind me and
give great insight to how our LORD must feel and react when He sees that His
church is seeking to be their best in uniformity and mission.
Comments and Challenges:
1 Corinthians 1:10-17
If
we were to take a snapshot of various churches in our locality, it would not be
long before we could know where the heart of the each ministry is focused. The LORD
Himself inspects the universal church each day (Revelation 2 and 3) and I do
not believe that His heart sings when He sees the uniformity of Christendom
these days. We do not have to play the snitch as those of Chloe’s household
that there are “contentions” among the churches and sadly within the church
family too. Dissension is the best tool that Satan has to scramble uniformity.
We
could spend a lifetime searching for the right church and we would be
confronted with; “we any church”, we are of this persuasion or belief and
another and another and so it goes with the “any” of the many. Each fellowship
has this or that that differs from the one before it. In my simple mind… THIS
OUGHT NOT TO BE! And yet on the broad scale “All of what churches do and do not
do is accepted today”. So now throughout CHRIST’S churches, Christ is divided. Even
the way we “baptize”. For one, children are baptized and these are so young and
they have no understanding as to why.
Our
belief ISMS and BAPTISMS have gone over our head in that many churches today do
not PREACH the gospel. The gospel according to the apostle Paul must be PREACH
to the unbeliever, most churches in our communities do not even KNOW THE
GOSPEL. Words of WISDOM belong to those who belong to the Family of God and we
do not teach. We are not taught in most churches so it is no wonder to me that the
churches in our land today have no gospel and no wisdom.
Without
a message of the Gospel and without a teaching of the Wisdom of God, in the
short hour and a half most churches on Sundays play the harlot and devote their
time to ENTERTAINMENT. We live in peerless times in Christendom where nothing
we do is equal to the other and the uniformity of the church is absent from the
view of our Commander and Chief. I can clearly see why our early church fathers
placed such strong restrictions on music and how the ISMS of those days are so
misunderstood today.
