The
Devotional
Comment:
When you dock a boat or moor a
ship to the pier, the ropes for the boat or the mooring lines for the ship must
be taunt (tightly attached) to the boat or ship. The main reason is to keep the
boat or ship safely secured to the pier when the wind and waves cause the
vessels to move. This movement would cause damage and for a small boat could
even sink it. For the sailor this is simply common sense since safety in harbor
or at sea is a priority. Looking at the Word of the Living God in 2 Peter 3:1-9
we see the apostle Peter whose trade in life was a professional fisherman and
he uses a fisherman’s voice to establish the certainty of God’s Promise to the
trustworthiness of the Prophetic Word of God; 1 Peter 1:16-21. He says in this
epistle in the third chapter and verse nine: “The LORD is not slack concerning
His Promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not
willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
Devotional:
As we approach the coming New Year, we should be considering
our PERSONAL understanding of God’s Promise of the coming DAY OF THE LORD. 2
Peter 3:10-13. We can and often become “slack” in our personal way of life by
agreeing with world’s promise of deception, deceit and depravity. In doing so
we become complacent to the will of God and agree with worldly traditions and
religions that all things will continue just as they have in the past. This
sort of living is a complete disregard for the Day of the LORD.
For the New Year, none of us are have an excuse to disregard
the coming of the LORD, at the ending of all of our prayer time with the Father
we should add “Even so come LORD Jesus” since it is the will of God to provide
His saints with His grace. Revelation 22:20-21.
Resolve also to be holy as He says “Be holy, for I am Holy!
1 Peter 1:16, if you are a child of the King, He does express His will for us
to be holy as we live before the Father.
Note: My internet system has been down since Christmas Day
and it just came up this evening, so if nothing else happens; I will be sending
devotionals as usual beginning with this one.
