Comment:
Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world
is a statement of truth from John the baptizer. The statement is recorded in
the gospel of John chapter One and verse 29. The apostle Paul records another
statement of truth in his epistle to the Romans, in chapter 10 verse 15. And
how shall they preach unless they are sent? John the baptizer was sent by God
to preach Jewish repentance and baptism, the voice of one crying in the
wilderness: Make straight the way of the LORD – John 1:23-28. The apostle Paul
was sent by God to preach the grace gospel to the Jew first and also to the
gentile – Romans 1:16-17. God is will not to draw anyone to Jesus Christ His
Son, until someone whom He sends proclaims that forgiveness and salvation is
promised by the Lamb, the suffering Christ who is the Messiah. Once you or I
hear that Jesus alone saves, God will seek to draw us to Him. Let me just add
that if you are reading these devotionals, and have felt the draw of God on you
and still asleep, then awake O sleeper and Christ will shine on you. Ephesians
5:14
Challenge:
John 6:43-59 – (recap of verses 41-42) – If you
have heard the gospel of God and have not accepted Jesus as the One who came
down from above. Your complaints and murmuring is directed at Jesus, while your
soul seeks to know more your mind is up for an argument. And remember this,
before you heard the gospel you murmured and complained about things like; life,
work and other human interests and in this you willingly took the Name of Jesus
in vain as you blasphemed life around you. Now you seem reluctant to use His
Name inappropriately. This is the drawing Power of God in your life, don’t be
foolish and ignore His call to you.
The gospel goes much deeper than a message of “Believe on
the LORD Jesus Christ and you shall be saved!” However this statement is true
(Acts 16:31), is all one needs in his or her life, we call it “saving faith”
Hebrews 11:6 – if you come to God you must believe that He is God and a
rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, why? Because without faith it is
impossible to please Him. John 6:44 – No one can come to Me unless the Father
who sent Me draws him and I will raise him up in the last day. John 6:45 – the
prophets of the past have said all
along “and they shall be taught by God. Therefore everyone who has heard and
learned from the FATHER comes to Me.
This is very, very important so pay attention; the gospel of
God belongs to “God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter
1:16-21 – We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the
power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His
majesty. For He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice
came to Him from the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my Son, whom I love;
with Him I am well pleased." We ourselves heard this voice that came from
heaven when we were with Him on the sacred mountain. And we have the word of
the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as
to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star
rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of
Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never
had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried
along by the Holy Spirit.
Now as we slowly go through this critical chapter 6, we must
see that the One God of Creation who placed a curse over Creation for the sin
of the world also provided a Sacrifice for the sin of the world at the same
time, who is the God/man Jesus. Also that the revelation of this is revealed to
us by God the Holy Spirit just as all the prophets of the Old Testament and
preachers of the New Testament proclaim. The first promise of His redemptive
sacrifice is found within the curse, Genesis 3:14-19. See verse 15 – This
promise was made by the LORD God Himself “I will put enmity between you and the
woman and between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel. Another promise found
in the New Testament is from the LORD Jesus/Messiah Himself, (as recorded by
the apostle John) “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten
Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life” – see
John 3:16-36.
