The Devotional – Faith (Part 4)

The Devotional – Faith (Part 4)

Comment: Ephesians 2:1-10 – Have you gone for a walk recently? Most of us like to take walks, it normally does not matter which direction you take; if you choose the even numbered side of the street or the odd numbered side in order to return to your place of beginning both sides will be experienced unless of course you walk around the block. Here is my point! Walking in one direction and then turning around to go back can be call repenting, while going around the block will bring us back to our destination, yet it does not require a noticeable repentance since it is just another method to get to you final destination.

Devotional: God made us alive! These four words that begin Chapter 2 of Ephesians are crucial and must be taken literally. God made us alive and not we ourselves, there is NO merit, NO work and NO sacrificial gift of mankind that pleases God apart from sinless sacrifice of God’s LAMB, Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God; Ephesians 1:5. Whether we understand this or not does not change the Truth since the WALK that we walk before coming to FAITH in God is one of SIN and DEATH, Ephesians 2:1.

We all start out on one side of the journey of life, we all begin dead in sins and trespasses. Sins are personal while trespasses reach outward toward people, thus God is offended. The spiritual powers at work in the world around us control this side of the street and we are identified by God as “sons of disobedience”. As I look and meditate on this I see all unbelieving as those who express openly “disobedient faith!” that is faith that is aligned with the spirit of the world.

But now watch O children of God! “But God” who is rich in MERCY, because of His GREAT love with which HE loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with CHRIST, (Praise the LORD, Christ is risen, SO) by grace you have been saved!” You must include Ephesians 2:6 to see this. This is the work of God in every human life that places his or her faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We had nothing to do with the resurrection of Christ and for God to place us in the heavenly places with Christ based on a change of faith it is then, by God’s GRACE alone, again; Praise the LORD!

We know by heart Ephesians 2:8-9, if you do not know these 27 words by heart then shame of you. My focus, since we know these words brings me to Ephesians 2:10 and these words are hardly known to most grace gifted people. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them”.

If you feel that there is something you did to earn salvation, or if you feel that there is something you must do to keep being saved, then you miss the TRUTH of “For we are HIS workmanship”. You did not earn your way to be seated with Christ in the heavenlies and there is nothing for you to do to gain access with Christ in the heavenlies, JESUS CHRIST did it ALL. Faith is BELIEVING this positional TRUTH and accepting God at HIS WORD, salvation is a Gift of GRACE.
