The Devotional – Faith (Part 5)

The Devotional – Faith (Part 5)

Comment: Assurance, someone has said that our earthly house (that is our physical body) will someday be destroyed. Mostly we do not desire thinking about the destruction of the only dwelling we have confidence in. I remember instances when I felt indestructible, however I know that life in this current body is temporal. Living for the gusto of the moment is not the solution to indestructibility, nor is it the drive of one’s outward behavior to grab it all before time runs out. Of the many things that can move us throughout ONE day there are but TWO that we should monitor closely; of which we will take a peek at this morning, which are our temporal spirit and our eternal soul.

Devotional: Our text this morning is in 2 Corinthians; if you have the time today it might go well with you if you read from chapter 2:12 through 4:18. This is not a lengthy read but in these inspired words of the apostle Paul we see firsthand that the Light, (revelation) of Christ in us is triumph over sin and death. The apostle says in 2 Corinthians 2:14 – Now thanks be to GOD who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and diffuses (reveals) the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. That is to say that our victory over sin and death is evident to the people around us. ‘If they are assured, then why do we lack assurance?’

2 Corinthians 3:1-18 – reveals that the children of God are epistles that are known by all who watch us. Now watch this! Not because of the Truth found in the Holy Bible which is helpful, but because of the Holy Spirit WHO DWELLS in US. Our sufficiency is not a temporal conscience which perishes; our sufficiency is of GOD who abides in our eternal soul. He is the One who is able to administer the New Covenant; that is to reveal the Glory of God in this present day to those around us who live in darkness.

We are ministers of LIGHT, not just any light but ONE LIGHT which is the Gospel of Christ/Messiah. In other words, we have received from God Himself MERCY; and because we have, we DO NOT lose heart. We as children of God; like the New Covenant writers renounce the darkness. We do not walk in shameful behavior; we do not handle the Word of God deceitfully. How do we do this? We do this in ASSURANCE by manifesting TRUTH revealed by the Holy Spirit who abides in our soul. In this we convict the temporal conscience of those who live in DARKNESS.

Finally notice these inspired words of Paul. Therefore, we do not lose heart. Even though our outward (conscience) man is perishing, yet the inward man (soul) is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. While we do not look at the things which are seen. For the things which are seen are TEMPORARY, but the things which are not seen are ETERNAL.

(For a time, I will only be doing these devotionals on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Thanks to God for all who read).
