The Devotional – Faith (Part 8)
Comment: We are looking at the subject of FAITH
and the various aspects of faith (that is to say, from various points of truth).
TRUTH, one cannot believe truth unless they do so by FAITH; like it is
impossible to please God without believing HE is God, Hebrews 11:6. Religion,
whether liberal or conservative does not have the ability to project faith
toward God, therefore faith must be PERSONAL. Each man, woman and child who
believes that God IS; has faith! Do not be deceived, God is NOT mocked; all
religion practices mock the character of God and these shall reap what they sow.
Devotional: The epistle to the Galatians is
basically a rebuke to the churches at Galatia to return to the grace of God. It
is God who has delivered us from this present evil world to whom be glory
forever and ever, Amen. There is only ONE GOSPEL. The apostle is concerned for
these gentile saints who were ostracized by false teaching that in order for them
to be saved that they must be circumcised (an Old Testament requirement ((not pertaining to salvation)) that we
will not look at this morning).
In chapter 2, the
apostle warns the believers to keep themselves in the GRACE of God and gives
the example that even the apostle Peter was carried away (monetarily) by these
false presentations of works added to grace. There is no need to return to the
LAW, our justification is by CHRIST, He is not the minister of sin. Sin
develops in our personal life when we listen to and believe people who preach
or teach the gospel as a system of WORKS and not GRACE.
Galatians is a good
study; the JUST shall live by FAITH, now we should note what the prophet
Habakkuk has to say about justification by faith, Habakkuk 2:1-4 in that he
makes it very clear. The saints of God must watch and listen to what is being
said, we must be ALERT to SEE and HEAR what is being said in Christendom these
days. I like the way Habakkuk says in verse 4; But the JUST shall live by HIS
faith. The statement is PERSONAL!
It is interesting to
me that in Galatians 6 the apostle seems to abruptly change his conversation of
walking in the Spirit, to sharing one another’s burdens. Some take these
passages as material burdens but I believe that the apostle is still talking
about walking in the Spirit. While being with other saints; that is to
continually examine our own personal work before we seek to examine the work of
another brother or sister.
Baring and sharing
the burdens of others can mean material giving, however it can also mean the
sharing of all good spiritual things too. That is to say that if we sow to the
Spirit we will reap the rewards purposed by God in life everlasting, but if we
sow to flesh our religious practices we will reap corrupted results. Glory is
not ever directed to man or in man’s ritual of works, glory belongs to God with
a clear view of the Cross and of our Savior the LORD Jesus Christ.
