The
Devotional
Comment:
When a person goes out on a limb so to speak, it is also
like the slogan; walking on thin ice, this meaning that they do not have much
evidence to stand on. The two main flaws of evidence then is either a lack of
use, or a lack of research. The remaining factor is belief in what you are
projecting to others. It is and always will be FAITH that provides the final
conviction in what one does with TRUTH from the Living Word of God. Faith solidifies
the use and the research of the Holy Word of God for all who prepare to “seek”
(study) the Law of the LORD and DO IT, and to TEACH the statutes and ordinances
of God to people groups – Ezra 7:10.
Devotional:
History in the Old Testament is often viewed as nothing more
than a migration of Nomads from a land called Ur who eventually ended up in the
land of Canaan. Also this tribe of Nomads (Israel) from the world’s perspective
was a blight on earth. When Zerubbabel returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the
Temple, he and his company of laborers were met with opposition and the
rebuilding ceased temporarily, but notice the letter that was sent to King
Artaxerxes by the opposition.
Ezra 4:8-22 – I will just focus on some to the words in the
letter but please take the time to read the whole letter. I think you will find
out how people will use the “legal” highway to accomplish an evil task and
often win. Do we not see this in our day with the inclusion of “rights” for
people of idolatrous and immoral practices?
Doing diligence, most cases in politics have little to stand
on if the process of diligence is left out. We are witnesses of this in our own
government when leading politicians enact law that is not by the people and for
the people. Things that are normal for freedom and liberty are adjudicated as
obsolete and after that we hear words that are meaningless like “peace and so
forth” Ezra 4:17.
In the letter from Rehum, the commander who wrote to King
Artaxerxes regarding the company of Zerubbabel who were in Jerusalem to rebuild
the temple we see that this commander along with the backing of the leading men
of various countries including Samaria, wrote and requested that a search of
the records would reveal that the Jews in the city of Jerusalem “back in the
day!” were rebellious and had “harmful kings” that these Jews always incited
sedition (rebellion) against those who were not Jewish.
The king sent his answer and it is in agreement with Rehum. The
kings’ search of the records reveals that Jewish revolt was a factor and that
rebellion and sedition were an ongoing problem for these nations. Yes too, the kings’
search revealed that the kings of Israel took the tax revenue from the land and
this was the final verdict. Ezra 9:21-22.
Honestly, in my heart I feel the need for people like,
Zerubbabel, Ezra and Nehemiah in our country TODAY. Why should we saints of the
Living God melt in our heart as we watch our country give itself over to
idolatry and immorality. I hear the voices of prominent men it the pulpit today
who say: “well we will just continue to pray and watch how the course of this
nation goes?” I have said it before and will say it again – “BAH HUMBUG”.
Men and women of the true church, we need to take a stand
like these Old Testament Saints, take a look at Hebrews 11:1 – 12:2 and notice
verse Hebrews 11:38-40. Today I feel as though many in Christendom today are
not worthy, we do not have a good testimony of FAITH, we walk about on “thin
ice” because we are unsaintly examples of the title of “Christ in us” because
we lack the power and righteous of Christ to make the “limb” bend. We look no
different that the secular world around us.
