The Devotional - A thought about Righteousness

The Devotional
Comment: In a magazine “Israel My Glory” which I read from time to time I noticed an article by Steve Herzig entitled “Mission impossible”. Mr. Herzig writes for Israel My Glory and he is the director of this ministry in North America, he is also a Bible teacher for FOI. He takes his readers through Isaiah 6:4-9. Notice if you will verse 9 – and he said, Go and tell this people, hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not, KJV. He also makes reference to Isaiah 64:6 – But we are all as an unclean thing and all of our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind have taken us away. Are we getting the picture? The mission! You do not have to decide whether you will chose to take it or not, you and I are in the thick of it.

Devotional: In his days of college Mr. Herzig met a gentile believer; as he relates the lad preach salvation through Jesus Christ to him. (Quote) “I told the lad (being just a lad himself) that he was a Jew and knew the way of righteousness. He was, if they were to meet again to never bring up the name of Jesus to him”. Departing from that conversation Mr. Herzig recalled his Bar Mitzvah at the age of 13 and says that he remembers that his righteousness before God from that point in time was never 100 percent as is required of every male Jew. In other words he understood he was failing God.

In the recesses of our mind, be it whatever religion we are in we understand as Mr. Herzig did that we are not 100 percent righteous. All religions are systems of works and no matter how hard we work, there is never enough work in our lifetime that reaches the satisfaction of God’s Righteousness, in fact: the work we do does not even satisfy us that we have done enough. This is tragic since it leaves us to die in DOUBT.

No one should perish from this life with doubt as to their eternal destination… NO ONE? Yes no one. Thus far I have quoted Mr. Herzig but once, now again. “While Moses taught that the Law was to be obeyed, he also taught (that the Law) was to be in their hearts, see Isaiah 29:13”. The italics are added by me for clarification.

Herein lies the problem of all mankind, God has stretched out His hands all the day long to a rebellious people who walk (religious work) in a way that is not good, according to their own thoughts (interpretations). A people who provoke Me to anger continually to My face (Isaiah 65:2-3) yet notice Isaiah 65:1 where Isaiah says that God is sought by other nations and God said to these nations “look at Me, Look to Me” so The door is open but our religions keep our heart working instead of looking.

(Quote from the article) In Romans 9:30 through Romans 10:30 the apostle Paul made a case that Israel, God’s chosen people, pursued righteousness through the Law and fell short, while the gentiles who were not pursuing God’s Righteousness found it though faith.

Now this is the solution is it not? All religion uses man’s way to work toward righteousness and all fail. God says this angers Him. We have no righteousness of our own that works in favor of God! The Bible says that Christ is the end of the Law for Righteousness for all who believe. Not to believe by human reasoning, but by believing in the Righteousness of God, the Christ. This is the change in every soul, the transfer from human belief. To God directed faith. This transfer is a gift from God, permanent change of mind, an offering from God to repent or to change our mind from dead religious works of religion to a Living walk of faith in God, apart from this there is no salvation.
