The Devotional - Doing what is Right

The Devotional

Comment: Doing what is right, 1 John 2:28-29, these are the children of God and we say; “does not the unbelieving seek to do what is right. Yes, yes they do and many are very good at doing the right thing. The unbelieving do what is right in the sight of man and for man, while the child of God does godly righteousness so to please God. The plans of a man’s heart belong to him or her, they are personally accountable to God for them since the answer of the tongue is from the LORD, Proverbs 16:1-3. Any work of justice is right and we all can lay claim at doing what is right from time to time. What is not understood clearly the by unbelieving man is that both the believer and the unbeliever will be judged for right and wrong. The unbelieving at the Great White Throne – Revelation20:11-15 and the believing at the Judgment Seat of Christ – 2 Corinthians 5:9-11.

Devotional: Psalm 119:121-128 – The writer of Psalm 119 is confident that he has been just and righteous in his works, not to be pleasing to man, but to God. What concerns him are devotional thoughts that would concern us. I have done right and I have dealt justly and yes I am incarcerated in the land of the enemy, even a land that You LORD are displeased with. Since my heart is pure LORD, protect me from my oppressors, conversation and meditation with God is important.

Have you ever been in this sort of moment in time? Most likely not but it is important to take an account of what we do in any given day, that in dealing with others in the sight of God that our preparations which belong to us are getting a favorable answer from God. There may come a day when God will use your “testimony” in the face of the enemy. In that day your eyes may fail for searching for your deliverance from the enemy by the Hand of God.

While searching for this deliverance note that the Psalm writer seeks God’s mercy while he continues to search out the statutes of the LORD (he maintains his studies) as he says, “I am Your servant; give me understanding that I may know your testimonies. The testimonies of God will be the response of the psalmist to his oppressors. There is a sense of urgency in the thoughts of him as he says, “LORD it is time for You to act, my oppressors have no regard for Your law, to them Your law is void, yet in their eyes they are doing right.

LORD, I love Your commandments, more than gold and Your precepts regarding ALL THINGS, I consider to be right and I hate every false way. There may come a day in our future when the very contents of this Psalm will deliver us through similar trials. We should not wait until that day and begin cramming for a good report card. The psalm writer and many like him, even today are subjected to the cruelty of the enemy. We ought not be blind to this and say it will never happen to us.

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His Hand. Today if you will hear His voice (in this matter) do not harden your hearts as those in the rebellion, as in the day of trail in the wilderness” – Psalm 95:6-8. Now we are not a chosen nation like Israel, but like Israel we are a nation that has turned its back on God. It is better to be prepared and study, study is worship.
