The
Devotional
Comment:
Scripture is from the Word of God, one small proof of this is
found in Jeremiah 1:9 – The LORD put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and
the LORD said to me; “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth”. The prophet
Isaiah has a similar experience recorded in his book, Isaiah 6:1-13. And again
God verifies that all Revelation is of God, no one else thus the Word of God is
supreme above all other writings, see Hebrews 1:1-4. As we travel through Psalm
119, may the LORD direct the way for all of us to understand His message of “mercy
and salvation”. Mercy and Salvation is not a message from any man. Therefore
the proclamation of the Gospel of God is of God, by God and through God.
Devotional:
Psalm 119:41-48 – All of Psalm 119 is an expression of the
psalmist love for the Word of God, he loves the Law of God, the Ordinances of
God, the Precepts of God, the Testimonies of God, the Commandments of God and
He loves and meditates on the Statutes of God. The thought that comes to my
mind is; “do I?” As you well know I have said many times in these devotionals
that I Love the Word of God and I do. However loving God’s Word, as great as
that is, does not mean that I understand it all.
For example; mercy and salvation is not according to the
will of man, this could never be possible. Yet God has given to every child of
God the task of giving the answer of mercy and salvation to the one who
reproaches (taunts) them. Is someone taunting you because of your faith, give them the gospel. The one who loves God through His mercy and salvation
as revealed in His Word, God has given him the ability to understand the gospel
through the power of His Word and the equipping ministry of the Holy Spirit.
John 16:5-15 and Romans 10:9-10.
Furthermore, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit we
learn to Trust God’s Word in every aspect of life. When we seek His Word fear of losing it
fades away because we have a continual assurance in His Ordinances, an
ordinance is not just for one person, but for a group or a congregation as in this
what is good for the assembly is good for the individual too. In other words
God has equipped all of His Children with mercy and salvation, therefore He has also
equipped us with the power to share. This is a standing ordinance of God that
will never fade away.
The child of God who understands that he or she is equipped
with the power of His Word and the ministry of the Holy Spirit is at liberty
(literally, a wide place) to speak. The freedom of seeking God’s precepts
(rules of conduct) give the child of God the power to stand before governing authorities
and proclaim a testimony (an established Truth of Faith in God) such as the
apostle Paul did in Acts 26 before king Agrippa. There is NO SHAME is speaking
TRUTH. Therefore we should delight our self with the Commandments of God, this love for His Word is spiritually contagious.
Do we handle the Word of God as the psalmist does? Do we
lift up His Commandments, do we meditate on God’s Statutes as we ought? The
apostle John helps us to understand that the love we seek to know is the Person
of Christ/Messiah Himself. 1 John 1:1-4, verse 3 says… that which we have seen
and heard we declare (proclaim) to you, that you also may have fellowship
(godly communication, saying the same thing) with us. True fellowship with the
Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. A statute of God that will always bring
joyful delight to every soul who trusts the Word of God.
