A Daily Devotional – Psalms – Personal Meditation (1)

A Daily Devotional – Psalms – Personal Meditation

Comment: The world (people) around us seek to be happy. This happiness is bitter sweet, jokes carry underlying thoughts of misbehavior or worse immorality and idolatry. Laughter is sinister and the listening ear (if you can find one) is a direct cause of bitterness toward each other. To add to this, James the half-brother of Jesus while writing the Jews after the dispersion, writes in chapter 3 that the tongue of mankind is untamable, he also says that the tongue is a flame of fire, set on fire because it is surrounded by a world full of sin and iniquity, it has no control, but to react the same as the world. See James 3:1-18, if you have not read this before, you will be shocked, if you have read this before, read and be shocked again.

Devotional: Mankind, Jews included; live in a world of hostility, yet while they slander one another and walk in every sin and iniquity known to man they will quickly claim the following, “I am okay, it is the world (people) around me that are no good!” Little do you realize my friend, that you are as much the problem as everyone around you. Notice if you will Psalm 2.

1 Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, 3 "Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us." 4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. 5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure: 6 "Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion." 7 "I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. 8 Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel.' " 10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear, And rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

Jesus the Christ/Messiah is coming again and this is the bottom line. People (the world) destroy one another with the pleasures of the world because they do understand that the battle they fight is really against God and His Children. Problem, they also know that they are defeated and confused. Read and meditate on the Psalm and return to the LORD who created you. Read Romans 10:9-10 and believe it and your mind and soul will rejoice. God will change your happiness in this life to JOY, a joy that the world does not, nor could ever know.
