Comment: Looking
ahead for something to bring glory to our God, I am considering another change
to the devotional. I know! I have said this before, yet somehow the amount of
words keeps creeping back to five and six hundred words per devotional. For me
(most times) it is a wonderful morning drive through the Word of God, but there
are days when the trip is a bit cold and rainy. On those days, it seems hard to
get things going. Prayer and meditation really helps, but when the days are
impacted with things to do, the mind loses focus on my number one priority.
Thus, the glory of the LORD is obstructed with the clouds and rain of the cares
of the world. I know you get the point, all of us who are the children of God
have those good days and bad days. Someday soon, and for all the children of
God; we will serve Him in His Glorious Kingdom. A perfect day “The River of
Life”; Revelation 22:1-5.
Devotional: If you regularly read these comments and
devotionals you know that I regularly dis-credit religion. My main purpose is
to direct our attention to a “personal relationship with The Christ/Messiah”.
Christ, He is identified in the New Testament as Messiah, He came to earth by
and for the Will of His Father. The woman at “Jacob’s well” said to Jesus, “I
know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will
tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to
you, am He.” The words of John 4:5-25 are not mere words to read; these are from
the Holy Word of God, words to meditate on, as even as in the personal
encounter of the Christ with this woman.
Do you encounter personal
moments with the Christ; The Creator and Sustainer of heaven and earth, or do
you believe as religion does “I have to gain His favor by proving myself to Him”? If so, this is the wrong approach to God since He has proved His love for us,
FIRST. Long before we learn to love God, He has already demonstrated His love
to us, just as we looked at yesterday in Romans 5:1-11. Now this is a basic
thought to consider, “Is the love of God a RELIGION, or is God’s love PERSONAL”? It is and always will be PERSONAL.
Do I have to measure up to
God’s standard of the law, or perform some religious series of acts to gain the
love of God? The answer is “NO” God loves us, we need only to accept His love
by faith. A verse of scripture that never wears out, like the sandals of the Israelites
in the wilderness; is, John 3:16 – “For God so loved the
world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that “who so ever” believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life”.
Deuteronomy
29:5 - And I have
led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you,
and your sandals have not worn out on your feet.(The Word of God never wears out).
Well now, I am above 500 words, but I’m
experiencing the joy of the LORD and not nearly close to all that needs to be
said.
