Comment: I
believe we live in a day when false expressions regarding the gospel of Jesus
Christ the LORD of Glory is more popular from the pulpits than the true gospel
(see 1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Paul, the aged and experienced apostle, pastor and
teacher explains to Timothy the heavy burden that Timothy will face as pastor
and teacher of the church at Ephesus. In 1 Timothy, we find Paul exhorting
Timothy to stand firm, to be on guard and to understand that Timothy will face obstacles
because of his youth. Timothy is charged by Paul to AVOID false teachers and those
with greedy motives. What might identify false teaching and the greedy motives
of men who handle the GOSPEL in an unworthy manner? Those who lack in
Righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.
Devotional: 1 Timothy 1:1-20 – There is but ONE message,
meaning there is only one DOCTRINE. Fables and genealogies cause disputes of
reasoning, rather than godly edification in faith. The commandment of love for
God and one another has not changed, nor will it ever change, but when men
promote the love of God without godly edification, faith becomes insincere or
hypocritical. The commandment as Paul states in Romans 13:8-10 is fulfilled when
it does no harm to our neighbor in the process of loving God too.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is
a faithful message from God, we who are saved and understand this have been
called from a past life like that of the apostle’s. We were blasphemers,
persecutors, insolent and violently arrogant. And if this list does not fit
your unsaved position in that life, please read 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 as you
will find yourself there. Christ/Messiah Jesus came into this world to save
sinners and like the apostle, I do not think it is robbery to say as he has (of
whom I am chief).
We are called to have with
our faith, a GOOD CONSCIENCE, some have seared their consciences with the
doctrines of demons. Now let me ask a simple question! Where would you expect
to find the teaching of a demon? Would it be in the local bar somewhere near
the church of Christ, or would it be in the church of Christ? This could be
considered absurd; but if the church you attend is teaching the doctrines of
demons; go to the bar, at least those demons do not hide behind a cloak of
deception.
