Comment: Where
your eyes are, is where you will find your heart. These days, the care about
the direction of the eye or the abode of their heart is inward, or personal. Most
folks are occupied with “self-interests” they lack the vision and the heart to
be involved with concerns for others around them. Self-ism; a doctrine or
condition that begins in the early stages of childhood learning. From kindergarten
and through college, mankind is taught that he or she is autonomous (self-directing
or self-willed). The heart’s eye in many people today is the god they believe
they are. Therefore, this focus is the projection of self and the rejection of
everyone else around them. Now I know this sounds a bit extreme, especially if
your mind’s fundamental foundation is bent in this direction to any degree. This
is a problem in that even the children of God are misled, “that men love the
darkness, rather than the light”, an excerpt of John 3:19.
Devotional: The apostle Paul and his charge to Timothy is
clearly a mandate (an order or command) for the church today! “Preach the Word!
Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all
longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come (it has come) when they (you
and I) will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own (yours and
mine) desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves
false teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be
turned aside to fables.
As I have said in times past,
we serve and believe in a “Personal God”. However, many today have become
impersonal and independent, many ears in the church today seek fables, rather
than truth. Sound doctrine, what is that? Most celebration minded church
goers have never heard the words, sound doctrine. Also, they worship what they
do not know and celebrate what they do not have. This is extreme vanity (a
fable).
Abundant life, as some
project themselves as having is not the Abundant Life referred to by Jesus in
John 10:10. Leaderships that promote a celebration over sound doctrine is a
self-hired person, one who does not own the sheep of the flock, who when he
sees the wolf coming deserts the sheep. The hireling flees because his heart
and eye is on self-isms of our current day, these men or women have no faith, Faced
with the doctrine of Christ, in us; the hope of glory. They run away, they
simply have no use for His Name, but to use it to baffle and scatter the true
flock of God.
Jesus gathers the flock and
protects us, we are safely in the Hands of the LORD, He knows us and we know
Him, see John 10:7-30.
