A Daily Devotional – Romans – Personal Meditation (1)

A Daily Devotional – Romans – Personal Meditation

Comment: Most people in the community around us, that is; if they confess a love for God will reveal that their love is from a religious platform. In other words, they acquired this love of God from a Catechism, or a system of do’s and don’ts established from the Commandments given to Moses on Mount Sinai. If you are one of these people, let me ask you a question; Is this the normal way we love people, or even our pets? Is there a list of prerequisites regarding a marriage of husband and wife? Does a dog require a set of rules in order to respond to your love for it? A No! to both questions is correct, even when human intellect (flip-flops) as it does today on issues of love and life. Love, (unlike Wisdom which is a learned principle in life) is the main part of our emotional framework. There are numerous verses of scripture that prove God’s love for you and me and we will look at them as we search out the subject, but to conclude this paragraph, Proverbs 8 which is my favorite of Proverbs, reveals this Truth in verse 17 – “I love those who love Me, and those who seek me early, will find me.”

Devotional: There is much proof of God’s Personal love for us, so much in fact; that I do not know where to begin! If I were to do an in-depth study of this, I could easily say – READ YOUR BIBLE! But I fear that you would read it from the platforms mentioned earlier; mechanical or man-made religion is a “great destroyer” of a personal and loving relationship with God. One of the best epistles to start from in the New Testament is the epistle of Paul to the Romans and the best chapter is chapter five and of course, verse five.

“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Well now with this said, we will need to look at the entire chapter since our Faith, like the Love of God is victorious over all of life’s issues. Now we could argue from the human intellect, “which came first; the chicken or the egg” but that would be knowingly ignorant, which is simply saying “I know the answer but I intend to remain ignorant.”

A little further down in Romans 5 we read these words in verse 8, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” God demonstrated this love to the Jew first (Messiah) and He revealed this love to the Gentile secondly (Christ) so Jew and Gentile have this in common, in this if you seriously study Romans 4 and 5 you will see that God’s love is personal and we should respond to His love with personal faith.

As unbelieving; that is, lacking faith we are simply without strength, Romans 6, meaning that our character to love God is out of sync (imperfect) or from the platforms of religions which fall short of the Perfect love of God which He has already demonstrated. We must be willing to lay aside all of the encumbrance of ignorance that separates our personal faith from the love for God. A love already PERFECT in Christ.

While we were enemies (having no love or a faulty love), Christ died for US, now for those of us who believe, we are reconciled back to God through the death of His Son and we shall be saved by His resurrected life (Romans 5:10). The love of God is revealed through the death and resurrection of His Son and not through the works of man-made religions. We cannot re-write the Word of God to fit our fantasy or fancies, more tomorrow or Monday.
