A Daily Devotional – Faithful – The Eternal Word (36)

A Daily Devotional – Faithful – The Eternal Word

Comment: Everyday people are challenged with uncertainty; these uncertain events can be extreme or common everyday occurrences. But, none the less fear can creep in and confidence will run away like the unruly child. This morning my wife brought this to my attention, so I thought it would be good to share this with you. God is personal, whether we understand this or not God is faithful to His promises to us. The writer of Hebrews puts it this way, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful, and let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works”. Hebrews 10:23-24, but remember to read the context – Hebrews 10:10-25.

Devotional: The book of Psalms is especially helpful to direct us to God’s personal care for our
everyday life challenges. In Psalms the writers are personally involved with life events, these saints of the past; children of God reveal to you and me TODAY that we have a ‘faithful companion”, His name is: El Shaddai and Psalm 4:1-8 will reveal His faithfulness to those who meditate and communicate with Him concerning the challenges that come into our lives daily.

To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer. How long, O you sons of men, will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness and seek falsehood? Selah

But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; The Lord will hear when I call to Him. Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord. There are many who say, "Who will show us any good?" Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the season that their grain and wine increased. I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

God is faithful, He does not slumber or sleep. Another writer in Psalms writes, He who keeps you, will NOT slumber, Behold, He who keeps Israel, shall NEVER slumber or sleep. Let me ask you a question; does Israel still exist as a nation? Yes, it does and it will always exist. God Himself will rule the world forever out of Jerusalem. Psalm 121 is a good psalm also to meditate on the faithfulness of God. If we fail to see the ‘faithfulness of God” it is because we fail to be faithful to Him, but remember; God remains faithful as it is impossible for God to lie. See Numbers 23:19 and Titus 1:2.
