A Daily Devotional – Joy and Fellowship – The Eternal Word
Comment: Sin, transgression and iniquity are
three words that a child of God does not like to hear, to use or to be accused
of. People who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ do not use
these three words at all. Yet, the world we live in is overflowing with people,
including God’s children who actively practice behavior that rejects authority
and oversteps the boundaries of living right. If we were honest (and we are
not) “our thoughts about ‘living justly’
with others is ‘getting away with injustice’
and not being caught.
Devotional: Only
the children of God; that is, those who have a personal relationship with God by
faith in Jesus Christ are concerned about living justly. When sin occurs in God’s
child, he or she, will lose their “joy” and “fellowship” with God. In other words,
and more directly put, they have ‘transgressed’ their spiritual ability to walk
with God. They have broken away from the discipline of ‘right living’ their
soul is silent and their physical body pressured by the heavy hand of God’s
discipline.
God is always ready to restore His child to ‘joy’ and ‘fellowship’,
sometimes returning to the LORD is like the prodigal son; Luke 15:1-32. But,
there is the child of God who will recognize quickly that he or she is missing
the ‘joy’ of the LORD. These will immediately seek restoration and ‘fellowship’
with God. Overall, the returning child of God will KNOW right away this
wonderful truth; “The JOY of forgiveness and the restoration of FELLOWSHIP” Psalm
32:1-11 will help.
Blessed is the one whose
transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose
sin the LORD does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. When
I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day
and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of
summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I
said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.” And you forgave the guilt
of my sin. Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found;
surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them.
You are my hiding place; you will
protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. I will
instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my
loving eye on you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no
understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to
you. Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD’s unfailing love surrounds
the one who trusts in him. Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous;
sing, all you who are upright in heart!
