A Daily Devotional – Psalm 119:145--152 – Personal Meditation (19.1)

A Daily Devotional – Psalm 119:145--152 – Personal Meditation

Comment: Living ‘in Christ’ for most believers today we might not totally understand just what it means to live, or as it were; to be “Alive in Christ” Someone may ask, “are you saved?” and your answer is; “yes I am!” There are two types of people who will ask you that question: One, the unsaved friend or relative, or Two, the saved friend or relative. Let me just say this that if you find that the unsaved never asks you that question and the saved one does ask. Could this be a warning you that you are not living “in Christ” but rather “living in the world?” I know we all struggle with issues of the flesh, we have good days and bad like everyone else. Also, we all know the ‘drill’ of being in and out of fellowship with the LORD, but do we KNOW how to ‘abide’ in Christ, moment by moment and day by day? Let us see what the psalmist says about this subject.

Devotional: Psalm 119:145-152

“I cry out with my whole heart; hear me O LORD! I will keep your STATUTES” I have not seen any reference to the statutes of the LORD that do not speak clearly of those who abide in the LORD’s statutes abide in His Joy. There is no other walk for the child of God than that of ‘abiding’ in Christ. Read John 15:1-17. The Love of God is not functional in us when we have one step of living in the world and one step, living in Christ. Joy and love are cannot be made complete if we do not involve ourselves daily in the STATUTES of the LORD.

Daily we ought to “cry out to You; save me and I will keep your TESTIMONIES” the psalmist in not literally crying out for ‘salvation justification’, but he is pleading with God to keep his focus on TRUTH. All day long we are bombarded with worldly (evil) chatter, thus he is asking God to keep him abiding in Truth; Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life; the world is a troubling place to be and our heart (soul) suffers; see John 14:1-6.

The psalmist goes on to say that he rises up before the dawning of the morning; “I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in Your word. Do we? Do we before the morning light hits the horizon begin our day looking at the WORD. Yes, often we do just that, but do we recognize who the Word is? In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God. Jesus is the Word, abide in the Word, John 1:1; don’t just handle the Book; handle the Word; see 1 John 1 as if the Word of Life is with you, in you and upon you.

Throughout the night, the psalmist’s mind is occupied with or meditating on the Word, are you like him, abiding in Christ throughout the day and night? Christ is the power of God, and being sanctified in His power is possible upon all who believe. Salvation/Sanctification is allowing the LORD to be LORD of your day and night and all of this is possible by the one who willingly walks by faith. Take hold this morning with Hebrews 11:1-40. These men and women are the real people of faith and the question is, “are we in that line up too?” We will finish this section of Psalm 119 tomorrow, if the LORD wills.

A Daily Devotional – Psalm 119:137-144 – Personal Meditation (18.2)

A Daily Devotional – Psalm 119:137-144 – Personal Meditation

Comment: One of the problems with a loop is that if you spin in it long enough, you forget which way is up! Someone once said that a cold will last seven days and then pass, but with all the antibiotics and cold remedies available the common cold has ‘flu’ the coop! Whatever I have is not the flu, nor is it the common cold, and germs mutate from bad to worse. Now this reminds me of the sin of our nation, we have lost our common way. Our national goals, conservative or liberal are no longer common have become a condition of sinful remedies that harm and prolong national healing. It is sinful to do nothing at all, and it is equally sinful to use mutating remedies of today, to fix things. Now back to the common cold! If I humanly dwell on my condition it worsens. If I do what the doctor recommends, I get better. If we do what the LORD God says; if each do their part, our nation will heal. The remedy: Is not a new product in the slave market of sin. Nationally we need to turn back to God and obey the government He has provided for us; see Romans 13:1-14.

Devotional: Psalm 119:137-144

Righteous are You, O Lord, and upright are Your judgments. Righteousness belongs to the LORD, His ways are upright and His judgments are trustworthy. God has not failed to give us a king, so why should we fail God because we reject what God has provided; shame of face on all who reject God’s gift of a new king.

Your testimonies, which You have commanded, Are righteous and very faithful. God has not failed, His Word is the same yesterday, today and forever. God is faithful and He is righteous. It is man who fails God, then we have the audacity to blame God. My zeal has consumed me, because my enemies have forgotten Your words. The zeal of this thought consumes me because the enemies of God are mine too since they have forgotten Your Words.

Your word is very pure; therefore, Your servant loves it. The Word of the LORD is very pure, it is not complex as the words of man, therefore I trust in God through His Word and I am comforted in His love. I am small and despised, yet I do not forget Your precepts. What can harm me? Despise me if you so desire, I will not forget the precepts and statutes of my God. Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth. Why trust in the temporal when the eternal has already spoken.

Trouble and anguish have overtaken me, yet Your commandments are my delights. Certainly I have seen better days and yet in this present affliction I will continue to delight in the commandments of my LORD. The righteousness of Your testimonies is everlasting; give me understanding, and I shall live. Yes those who trust in the LORD shall live because God has given them understanding and liberty in His everlasting life.

Just as Israel needs the gospel; as a nation, we do too. Romans 10:1-13.

A Daily Devotional – Psalm 119:137-144 – Personal Meditation (18.1)

Comment: I will come back and revisit this Psalm on Monday, I am not feeling well and intend to use the weekend with actions to get better. What those actions will be? I am not sure but whatever that action is, it it will be less than what I am doing now. I believe it is nothing more than head and bronchial congestion, but has knocked me for a loop.
