A Daily Devotional – Psalm 119:113-120 – Personal Meditation
Comment: Picking up where we left off yesterday;
God remains faithful, 1 Corinthians 1:9. Now this is a hard thing for us to
understand since many of us are like a man of wavering faith who lacks wisdom. Like
the man of James chapter One: Six, or; the woman of Proverbs 30:20 This is the way of an
adulterous woman: She eats and wipes her mouth, and says, "I have done no
wickedness." Both the man in the epistle of James One, and the woman of
Proverbs Thirty are victims of doubting God and wavering faith. All of the
Character of God is Perfect, thus His Faithfulness to you and me never fails.
Look at this way! If we walk by the sight of our faithfulness, we are short
sighted and unfaithful. His word is not a Lamp for our feet, nor is it a Light for our path.
Meditation and obedience to the Word of God is RIGHT for all of us. 2 Corinthians
4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even
though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by
day.
Devotional: It
would be correct to think that this is a continuation of yesterday. However,
one brief scan of Psalm 119:113-120 provides ample evidence that the psalmist
too, carries the same thoughts into his next section. Notice if you will, those
with a divided heart (double minded) are disliked by the writer because they
fail to love the law of God, mainly the law that holds the world in place. God
is our shield and hiding place, Why? Because we have strong or unwavering confidence
in the Living Word of God who is none other than Jesus Christ, see John 1:1-4
and 1 John 1:1-5.
Evil and those who practice evil should not be close
friends, at times it may be hard to send someone away because they can and
often do sway us away from the commandments of God. So, sanctify Christ as LORD
in your heart and make no provision for the fleshly relationship of an evil
doer, see 1 Peter 3:13-17. God is faithful, He will hold you up and you will be
safe. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart, so in times of
trouble; continually observe these truths. Do not stray from the statutes of
our God, see Psalm 19.
God puts away all wickedness, the wicked are condemned
already, see John 3:18 and 3:36, if the wicked fail because they do not love
the testimony that God gave His Son to be the propitiation for the sin of the
world, it will not be because you parted company with them. It will be as
Ezekiel says in chapter 18 of his book; see Ezekiel 18:19-32.
