A Daily Devotional – Personal Faith – Personal Meditation
Comment: Of the many things that cause
people to struggle over the proof that Jesus Christ is God, the one thing that
cripples them first is “doubt” and from doubt comes the fear that if I trust
Him; will He give me up because of my past, or reject me because I am not ‘good
enough’. These struggles of interference are the result of not using ‘personal
faith’ to believe in Him. Jesus in His own words said. “All
authority has been given to Me in heaven and earth. Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all the things which I have command you;
and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew
28:17b-20.
Devotional: Faith
based religions (and there are many) direct attention to the doctrines of self-imposed
practices that miss the Truth that; “All authority has
been given to Me in heaven and earth!” Note that, when Jesus expressed
the following words to Peter, He was speaking about Peter’s faith; “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has
not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven And I also say to you
that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of
Hades shall not prevail against it.” See the context of Matthew
16:13-20.
Peter (the rock) expressed personal faith, see Matthew
16:16, the words of Peter were not the result of any religious background and
if we are to come to Jesus as Simon Bar-Jonah did, it must be by personal
faith, trusting in Jesus who has the power to save us when we express trust in
Him.
Tomorrow we will begin the gospel of John, our focus
will be on Jesus, His ministry, miracles, His death and His Resurrection. He is
Risen! Personal faith cannot be taken from you, and all of us who have personal
faith in Him, know Him as the Risen LORD. He is Messiah if you are a Jew and He
is the Christ if you are a Gentile. Either Name, it is the only Name (Person) given
among mankind that provides salvation to all who believe. See Acts 4:12.
