A Daily Devotional – Personal Faith – Personal Meditation (2)

A Daily Devotional – Personal Faith – Personal Meditation

Comment: A little background about the apostle John and others, before we look at his gospel. John is the first cousin of Jesus, his mother’s name is Salome, one of the sisters of Mary the mother of Jesus. These men were called to follow Jesus, they knew Him prior to His calling them. Friends and relatives, by trade they were fishermen. Do you remember reading Matthew’s gospel concerning that day when Jesus walked on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, two of these men on the shore mending their nets and Jesus said, “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men”? First the LORD Jesus saw Peter and Andrew on the shore, then a bit further in His walk He saw His two cousins James and John, working in a boat with their father, Zebedee; see Matthew 4:18-22. This is the beginning of the public ministry of The Messiah/Christ on earth.

Devotional: We will not cover the gospel of John chapter by chapter; our focus will be on the Ministry and Mission of The Messiah Jesus who is The Christ Jesus. Now I know I have said this before that both Messiah and Christ are the same words. Messiah is Hebrew and Christ is Greek, both words agree that Jesus is the Father’s Anointed One. To deny this Truth is to reject the gospel (Truth) that God gave His Son as the sacrificial Lamb of God for the sins of the entire world; see John 1:29-34.

Why did the Father do this? See John 3:16 “For God (The Father) so loved the world that gave His only begotten Son (Messiah/Christ) that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life”. We will see as we travel through John’s gospel and other passages that The Father loves YOU, accepting this Truth by personal faith, satisfies God and removes the condemnation from you that is over the world which is under the penalty of sin; see John 3:17-21 and John 3:36.

Why would God do this? The answer is the entire record of the Holy Bible, since we do not have the time, or as the apostle John writes the last words of his gospel we read this. “And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one. I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen”; John 21:25. The Gospel is all about the LOVE of God, if we do not understand this as His children we will not understand that we are eternally saved by the grace of God. We are not saved by any other means.
