A Daily Devotional – Light – The Eternal Word (2)

Comment: All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet his SOUL is not satisfied! A quote of Solomon, king over Israel from 970 BC to 930 BC [give or take a year or two]. Another statement of Solomon; “Dead flies putrefy the perfumer’s ointment, and cause it to give off a foul odor; so, does a little folly to one respected for wisdom and honor” Ecclesiastes 6:7 and 10:1. Solomon also wrote many Proverbs, notice Proverbs 14:12 – There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

Devotional: Vanity, all is vanity! Of course, we should not conclude from our ‘natural mind’ that everything is vanity. And Solomon does not paint this portrait of words about life without PURPOSE, he concludes that all is not vanity, notice! Everything under the sun is vanity, but all is not vanity; “And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books, there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: “Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all. For God, will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:12-14.

Also, consider Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. This makes good sense to me.

Many folks believe that our nation is experiencing a ‘Cheyenne-Stokes’, breathing pattern like that of a dying person. These are periods of breathing before death that are 30 to 60 seconds apart before death is final. I would not agree with this, since there is no recourse except death. Why paint a false picture of the future of a nation, the future of ALL nations is in GOD’S HAND, and He has given ‘all nations’ to His Son; see Psalm 2:7-8. OR! Do nothing at all, do not pray, do not vote and simply grumble. Notice James 5:9 – Do not grumble against one another brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold the judge is standing at the door. For the coming of the LORD is at HAND.
