A Daily Devotional – Meditation and Study (2)
Comment: Some time ago when I was working I would
listen to a Christian radio station on the way to work. I know may who do that
even today and encourage this form of biblical instruction, yet we need to be
careful to what we listen to. Anyway getting back to this person, he always
closed his program with the words “MANY VOICES, THERE IS BUT ONE
MESSAGE!” This is good advice because in today’s world, while we still have
many voices; the ‘ONE MESSAGE’ has become diluted.
Devotional: As the LORD Jesus bore your sin and
mine, He cried out to His Father and to the Spirit; “Eli,
Eli, lama sabachthani? My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me? Matthew 27:45-56 is that portion of
scripture that communicates the death of our Savior, Matthew explains that from the sixth to the ninth hour was filled with darkness all over the land.
Imagine if you will, the God/Man, the Christ/Messiah, Thee God/Thee Son, is cut off from the Creator and the created during this time.
This is total isolation, words cannot describe these
three hours of time; I believe that even the scourging and the nailing to the
cross was more tolerable than these three hours of being isolated from God and
man as He willingly paid the debt we ALL owed.
The many voices of today, preach messages of ‘Love God’, ‘Worship
God’, ‘Work for God’ and so on. Yes, it is true we ought to love, worship and
serve our LORD and so on. Yet preachers purposely dilute the gospel. The gospel should not be liberalized with prosperity
or popularity, nor should the gospel be restricted with legalistic works of ‘do’s
and don’ts’ Jesus did not suffer such unspoken suffering for anyone of us to
have the AUDACITY to disregard GRACE by claiming gospels that are void of PERSONAL FAITH.
There are even churches by the score where you will not
hear the gospel preached at all and here is the RUB! The church represents
Christ on earth, we are ambassadors (representatives) of Christ on earth as
though He is pleading through us; imploring those around us to be reconcile to God,
for He (God) made Him (the Son) who knew NO SIN, to BE SIN for us. That is that
we might become the righteousness of God in Him (Christ), 2 Corinthians
5:12-21.
The gospel of God in Christ is a mystery to those
perishing in darkness, pray and ask God to remove false teaching that we might
preach clearly. Often I feel that we are like the apostle Paul these days, Ephesians
6:19-20. While he was physically chained in a prison, many of us are chained to
confusing voices and messages that keep the world separated from God.
