A Daily Devotional – Meditation and Study
Comment: What is meditation? Is it some form of
trance, is it a distraction from reality or could it be an opportunity? I see
meditation as an opportunity to increase my faith, hope and love for the LORD
God. We should notice that the apostle Peter who saw Jesus Christ face to face
states this in his Second Epistle (2 Peter 1:1-4) that he is a ‘bondservant’ of
Jesus. This relationship did not happen overnight. If you follow the ministry
of Jesus and His disciples, you are bound to notice Peter as a man who failed
often; Matthew 16:23; John 18:26 and Matthew 26:75, Galatians 2:11-21, yet we
see Peter’s heart in John 21:15-19.
Devotional: Peter the man is grieved in his heart
that the LORD asked him the third time, but Jesus has a ministry for Peter to
fulfil. If you are saved by the grace of God through faith in His Son (John
14:1) the LORD has a ministry for YOU! For some of us it takes a lifetime to
find out what that ministry is and this will be ‘shame of face’ at the Bema
Seat of judgment for the believer who fails to study and meditate on the Holy
Word of God, see 1 Corinthians 3:5-17 and 2 Corinthians 5:9-11.
Yet for those of us
who willingly serve the LORD through diligent study and meditation on God and
His Word, we will be used in ministry; notice how the apostle Paul reveals this
truth in 2 Timothy 2:14-26. Our faith will have ‘substance’ of things hope for
and our faith will be the evidence to others by a good testimony. Hebrews
11:1-7.
